Refectory

This hall, located on the upper storey above the Hall of Knights, is the room that has managed to maintain the most medieval building substance. Unlike the coffered ceiling in the Hall of Knights, it was executed with cross-ribbed vaulting supported by a central pillar of sandstone.

Plans had existed to convert the Refectory into a representative Neo-Gothic salon, but construction work was stopped in 1914. Subsequent to the end of the monarchy and the old aristocratic world as a result of the November Revolution of 1918, the expansion work at Kronenburg Castle was no longer carried out.
